Wolfram HWK on 3D solids

I have no idea how this is going to work, but I'm going to try it anyway. My 9th graders will be out of class all week in one of my preps. I'll catch them back up during review week on these basic topics on V and SA, but here's their homework due Friday:

I have found in the past if I leave things open enough for this type of population, they (most of them) run with it. This will be their chance to explore.

  1. As usual, a great idea! Putting in the idea bin for next year.

Update on giving test answers: today they had their surface area/volume test and with about twenty minutes left, I handed out a small slip of paper with the answers on it (but not what problems they went to) and the last digit left off. Most of them were almost through by then, and spend another 10-15 minutes going back and checking. Some of them still turned in problems where the answers were nowhere near correct (and they still had time left), but I think it did help some of the kids catch some silly errors and made them feel confident about their test. And made them love me. :)

  2. I like your execution of that idea ... giving it to them in the last few minutes and leaving off the last digit.

I'm still loving the answer banks ... though, ha ha, last time I had 2 mistakes out of 12, so it was technically an answer bank to THAT worksheet.
